From the boxing ring to the kitchen, and now to the big screen, George Foreman has been a household name. However, many do not know the full extent and story from how his impoverished childhood fueled his boxing career leading him to win an Olympic Gold medal and his first Heavyweight Champion title, or the near-death experience that had Foreman exiting boxing for 10 years to become a minister, before reclaiming his title again at the age of 45.
MovieWeb’s Nicki Sun headed to Regal L.A. Live for the World Premiere and Red Carpet of Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World. In addition to the excitement of the stars seeing the film for their first time, there was a collective excitement knowing that Foreman’s story was finally being recognized on the big screen.

Director George Tillman Jr. Covers Four Decades of George Foreman’s Life
Upon asking director George Tillman Jr. on what made him want to tell Foreman’s story, he says: “Second chances. This guy completely changed his life around. He stopped boxing because he wanted to be a minister — who does that?”
Most impressive was Tillman’s ability to showcase four decades of Foreman’s life on the big screen, noting: “It was hard. And we had to take out so much because his story is so rich. But I think that’s the great thing about his story, is that, we were able to take the story of the drive he had and what he learned.”
