Kit Harington Teases Jon Snow’s Post-‘Game Of Thrones’ Status In A Potential Sequel Series

Dec 19, 2022

Unless you’re a massive “Game of Thrones” superfan, you probably didn’t realize that this past weekend featured the official “Game of Thrones” Convention. And while there might not have been any major, showstopping announcements, there were some big names at the event teasing some potentially interesting future ideas.

While at the “Game of Thrones” event (via EW), Kit Harington was there to talk about his time on the show and the status of his beloved character, Jon Snow. Why is this remotely interesting to anyone who doesn’t obsess over Jon Snow? Well, it was reported earlier this year that Harington is spearheading the development of a Jon Snow-centric ‘Thrones’ spinoff series for HBO. So, as you might expect, fans are curious about what the actor believes happened to Snow at the end of “Game of Thrones.”
For those who didn’t see the finale, after seeing potential issues with the reign of Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow decided to kill her to save the realm. In doing so, and betraying the Queen, he was spared death and sent to live out his days at The Wall, which is in the far North. This, of course, left open the character for more potential adventures. Though, as Harington pointed out, Jon Snow isn’t doing so well right now after the events of the finale.

“He’s gotta go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany, and live out his life thinking about Ygritte dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly, and live out his life thinking about all of this trauma, and that…” Harington teased. “That’s interesting.”
He added, “So I think where we leave him at the end of the show, there’s always this feeling of like… I think we wanted some kind of little smile that things are okay. He’s not okay.”
Of all the potential ideas for a “Game of Thrones” sequel, following Jon Snow seems like the safest bet. As mentioned, he really is the biggest fan-favorite of the cast and Harington is so damn charming in the role. Plus, with the North completely changed after the events of ‘Thrones,’ there seems to be plenty of mystery to explore.
That said, it hasn’t been confirmed that the sequel series is most definitely happening. As of now, it would seem as if HBO is more interested in prequels, especially with the massive success of “House of the Dragon,” which takes place about 200 years before ‘Thrones.’ However, if the network wants to diversify its “Game of Thrones’ catalog, Kit Harington appears ready and willing to go.
