Cillian Murphy Would “Love” To Do A Film Sequel “If There’s More Story There”
May 10, 2023
Last year, after six acclaimed seasons, Steven Knight’s “Peaky Blinders” came to an end. But shortly after the end of the show’s run, Knight started talking about the possibility of a follow-up film. As you might expect, fans rejoiced at the news. Then the creator started hinting that filming could happen as soon as 2023. But yet, we haven’t heard anything about when that might happen. Well, according to “Peaky Blinders” star Cillian Murphy, the film spinoff might be further off than you were hoping.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Cillian Murphy talked about his upcoming film, “Oppenheimer,” but he also talked quite a bit about “Peaky Blinders.” This discussion included talk about the possibility of a “Peaky Blinders” film. Alas, Murphy does believe a film could happen, but he’s not trying to promise anything to fans that he can’t back up.
“If there’s more story there, I’d love to do it,” Murphy said. “But it has to be right. Steve Knight wrote 36 hours of television, and we left on such a high. I’m really proud of that last series. So, it would have to feel legitimate and justified to do more.”

So, it would appear that Cillian Murphy is definitely into the idea of a “Peaky Blinders” film. However, it’s also clear the actor doesn’t believe the film is around the corner, and it definitely doesn’t sound like filming is going to happen anytime soon. Fans may not be happy to hear that news, but that doesn’t mean the film spinoff is completely dead or even remotely dead. Perhaps, it’s just further off than you were hoping.
This makes sense as Knight is currently working on a new “Star Wars” film, as well as whatever else he has going on. The writer is always working on new TV series, as well. And Murphy is a busy man, as well. So, don’t give up hope yet, ‘Peaky’ fans.
