Apple TV+ subscribers will find out when the new season premieres this July. Based on Asimov’s stories, “Foundation” stars Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Lou Llobell, and Leah Harvey as the fate of humanity’s psychohistory hangs in the balance.
Here’s an official synopsis for “Foundation” Season 2, courtesy of Apple:
More than a century after the season one finale, tension mounts throughout the galaxy in “Foundation” season two. As the Cleons unravel, a vengeful queen plots to destroy Empire from within. Hari, Gaal, and Salvor discover a colony of Mentalics with psionic abilities that threaten to alter psychohistory itself. The Foundation has entered its religious phase, promulgating the Church of Seldon throughout the Outer Reach and inciting the Second Crisis: war with Empire. The monumental adaptation of “Foundation” chronicles the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.
“Foundation” also stars Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, and Terrence Mann. This season’s new cast members include Isabella Laughland, Kulvinder Ghir, Ella-Rae Smith, and Holt McCallany. Rachel House, Nimrat Kaur, Ben Daniels, and Dmitri Leonidas round out the newcomers.
Goyer returns as showrunner and executive producer for “Foundation” Season 2. Skydance Television produces the series for Apple. Other executive producers on board: Alex Graves, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Bill Bost, Robin Asimov, and Marcy Ross.
The first episode of “Foundation” Season 2 premieres on Apple TV+ on July 14, followed by new episodes every Friday throughout the ten-episode season. Watch a trailer for the new season below.
