Terrifier 3 Officially Moving Forward With Increased Budget & Potential 2024 Release

Jun 5, 2023

Terrifier 3 has been officially confirmed, along with an increased budget and a potential release window of next year. The Terrifier film series sees slasher villain Art the Clown terrorizing teenagers and murdering his victims in over-the-top, gory ways. Terrifier 2 managed unprecedented box office success, mostly due to how gory the low-budget slasher film is.

Now, Deadline has confirmed that Terrifier 3 is currently in development. Writer-director Damien Leone and producer Phil Falcone continue in their roles for the next installment in the franchise. Terrifier 3 will also be getting a budget of seven figures, a major step up from the $250,000 budget of Terrifier 2. Filming for Terrifier 3 is expected to begin at the end of the year, with a tentative release window of late 2024. Check out what Leone had to say about Terrifier 3 below:

Terrifier 3 will be another boundary pushing addition to the horror genre, continuing the no holds barred, uncompromising exploits fans of the franchise have come to expect and celebrate. If you thought Art the Clown’s reign of terror in part 2 was extreme, you haven’t seen anything yet.

What To Expect From Terrifier 3

The end of Terrifier 2 saw The Little Pale Girl take Art’s head after protagonist Sienna Shaw decapitated him. The post-credits scene saw an institutionalized Victoria Heyes, the original survivor from Terrifier, give birth to Art’s now-living head. Because of this, it’s likely both Victoria and Sienna will be involved in Terrifier 3 following Art’s unexpected return.

The Terrifier films are known for Art’s overly gory kills, a defining feature of the franchise that goes above and beyond most slasher films. While Terrifier 2 was able to pull off detailed deaths involving limbs being ripped up and skin being torn off, the movie still only had a budget of $250,000. With an increased budget for Terrifier 3, Art the Clown’s upcoming kills will no doubt be some of the goriest and most realistic-looking the franchise has ever seen.

Leone has teased another movie in the franchise before, saying Terrifier 2 includes teasers for Terrifier 3. In addition, Leone has said his ideas for the third movie are growing to the point where a Terrifier 4 isn’t outside the realm of possibility. Now that Terrifier 3 has been confirmed, it seems the film series is starting to transition into a bloody budding franchise.
