The Last Thing He Told Me Becomes Most Watched Limited Series Ever on Apple TV+
Jun 6, 2023
Just over a month after its debut on the Apple TV+ screen, the thriller The Last Thing He Told Me reaches a great record for the streaming platform. Starring Jennifer Garner, the series premiered on April 14 with very good numbers, and it keeps winning.
According to a recent report from Nielsen (via Variety), the limited series reached a total of 4.5 million unique viewers in 31 days, making it the most watched in the service’s history. With these numbers, the show surpasses other acclaimed productions such as Black Bird, Slow Horses, Echo and Shining Girls, which have been highly praised by critics and fans.
It is not the first record that The Last Thing He Told Me breaks, since its premiere episode also became the most viewed on the entire streaming platform so far this year. Currently, the series is in the top 3 of the most successful on the service, surpassed only by Ted Lasso and Shrinking.

The series follows Hannah, a woman who must set out to find answers after the sudden disappearance of her husband, forming an alliance with her teenage stepdaughter, Bailey. In addition to Garner, the series stars Angourie Rice, Game of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Aisha Tyler, and Augusto Aguilera.
The story is based on Laura Dave’s bestseller of the same name. The author wrote the show along with Josh Singer, both also working as producers with Garner, Lauren Neustadter and Reese Witherspoon.

Apple TV+ And Its Quest to Conquer the Industry
Apple TV+
Despite not being one of the most popular streaming services, and having to compete with big names like Disney+ and HBO Max, Apple TV+ has managed to win over the audience thanks to its seal of quality. It does not have a catalog as extensive as Netflix or Prime Video, but it has managed to produce titles that stand out.
Last year, shows like Severance took over social media by storm and generated some incredible buzz, such as the final season of M. NIght Shyamalan’s Servant, or other productions like Black Bird which was highly praised by critics and viewers. Not to mention the big star of the platform, Ted Lasso, which is still considered one of the best comedies of recent times and always performs very well in numbers, as well as during awards season.
Soon, Apple TV + will bring back other great successful series such as The Morning Show or Shrinking, and it will also bet heavily on cinema, the most outstanding title of its strategy being Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, which will have a long run in theaters before being available on streaming. Another one returning for a new season is The After Party, a suspense comedy that generated some really good comments last year too, joining the huge comeback of murder mysteries.
Severance is also getting a second installment, though due to production conflicts and the ongoing Hollywood writers’ strike, it could take significantly longer than planned to return.
