Sci-Fi Series From ‘Game Of Thrones’ Team

When “Game of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss wrapped up the award-winning/acclaimed HBO fantasy series they were originally tapped to tackle their own “Star Wars” films only to bail when Netflix offered them a hefty $200 million deal to develop streaming projects. As part of that Netflix deal they had partnered with Alexander Woo (“The Terror“) on a western series adaptation of the popular Chinese sci-fi novels “3 Body Problem“ from author Liu Cixin.

This weekend marks Netflix’s big promotional event, Tudum, where the streamer showcases a heap of upcoming original shows and films. With that in mind, they’ve revealed the first teaser footage from “3 Body Problem” (See below) and announced that it will begin airing at the beginning of 2024.
Here is the logline of the high-profile series via Netflix:
“A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and
time to a group of brilliant scientists in the present day. As the laws of nature unravel before
their eyes, five former colleagues reunite to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.”
The show’s cast consists of Jess Hong, Benedict Wong, Eiza González, Jovan Adepo, Alex Sharp, John Bradley, Saamer Usmani, Liam Cunningham, Rosalind Chao, Jonathan Pryce, Marlo Kelly, Sea Shimooka, Ben Schnetzer, and Zine Tseng.
Rian Johnson, Brad Pitt, and Rosamund Pike are named as executive producers alongside Bernadette Caulfield, Ram Bergman, Nena Rodrigue, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner, Robie Uniacke, Lin Qi, Zhao Jilong, Fenfen Xu, and Xiasong Gao.
“3 Body Problem” is set to drop January 2024 on Netflix and you can watch that teaser footage below.
