That’s right, Sarah Snook stars alongside Zach Galifianakis, Elizabeth Banks, and Geraldine Viswanathan in “The Beanie Bubble,” Apple’s look at the Beanie Baby craze of the mid-’90s. Based on Zac Bissonnette‘s book, the film follows the rise of Ty Warner’s stuffed animals into becoming one of the world’s biggest toy crazes.
Here’s an official synopsis for “The Beanie Bubble,” courtesy of Apple:
Why did the world suddenly treat stuffed animals like gold? Ty Warner was a frustrated toy salesman until his collaboration with three women grew his masterstroke of an idea into the biggest toy craze in history. “The Beanie Bubble” is an inventive story about what and who we value, and the unsung heroes whose names didn’t appear on the heart-shaped tag.
“The Beanie Bubble” also stars Kurt Yaeger, Tracey Bonner, and Carl Clemons-Hopkins.
Kristin Gore and Damian Kulash, Jr co-direct “The Beanie Bubble.” Gore also pens the film’s script. Kulash, the lead singer of OK Go, provides music for “The Beanie Bubble” with Nathan Barr. Producers on the film include Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, and Karen Lunder through Imagine Entertainment. Galifianakis serves as co-executive producer with Douglas S. Jones.
So how will “The Beanie Bubble” measure up to other corporate dramas from this year like “Tetris” and “Blackberry“? Find out when the film premieres on Apple TV+ on July 28. The movie also gets a limited theatrical release the weekend before on July 21. Watch a trailer for “The Beanie Bubble” below.
