Clive Owen, Emma Corrin & More Star In Brit Marling & Zal Batmanglij’s New FX Series

Are you among the cult following of fans that loved Brit Marling & Zal Batmanglij’s short-lived Netflix series, “The OA”? While that series was not revived—sorry to get your hopes up—the writer/directing pair, who have collaborated throughout their entire career, are back with the next best thing: a new FX series titled “A Murder at the End of the World” (see more first-look images here).

Starring Emma Corrin, Clive Owen, Harris Dickinson, Brit Marling, and Alice Braga, “A Murder at the End of the World” is a murder mystery limited series set in a reclusive billionaire’s remote and isolated compound. Set to premiere on Tuesday, August 29, exclusively on Hulu, the series, formerly known as “Retreat,” stars Emma Corrin (“The Crown”) as the amateur sleuth “Darby Hart.” The series will premiere with the first two episodes, followed by a new episode each week.
“A Murder at the End of the World” will also premiere Tuesday, August 29, exclusively on Disney+ in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Gibraltar, the Balkans, Singapore, and the Philippines.” FX also released a new character teaser for the series this week, which can be seen below.
Here’s the official synopsis
“A Murder at the End of the World” is a mystery series with a new kind of detective at the helm — a Gen Z amateur sleuth and a tech-savvy hacker named “Darby Hart” (Emma Corrin). Darby and eight other guests are invited by a reclusive billionaire (Clive Owen) to participate in a retreat at a remote and dazzling location. When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby must use all of her skills to prove it was murder against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life.
On top of the featured casts, “A Murder at the End of the World” also includes  Joan Chen, Raúl Esparza, Jermaine Fowler, Ryan J. Haddad, Pegah Ferydoni, Javed Khan, Louis Cancelmi, Edoardo Ballerini, Britian Seibert, Christopher Gurr, Kellan Tetlow, Daniel Olson, and Neal Huff.
“A Murder at the End of the World” was created and directed by Brit Marling & Zal Batmanglij. Also, executive producers on the project— alongside Andrea Sperling (Transparent), Melanie Marnich, and Nicki Paluga— Marling and Batmanglij are also known for film and TV series like the aforementioned “The OA,” “The Sound of My Voice,” and “The East.”
The seven-episode limited series is produced by FX Productions and was filmed in Iceland, as well as New Jersey and Utah. Watch the new teaser below.
