Beloved Animated Series Gets Revived On Hulu In July

Jun 28, 2023

Ready for some good news? Don’t worry, it’s not coming from Professor Farnsworth this time. Instead, Hulu is giving “Futurama” fans something to really smile about as a new season of the animated comedy is set to hit the streaming service after more than a decade away. The series originally began on Fox as a companion to “The Simpsons.” While its life there may have been much shorter, the fanbase has only grown thanks to constant play on FXX and Adult Swim. For Hulu, this marks yet another chance to capitalize on cult classic animation — having brought back “Animaniacs” to positive reviews.

The original cast returns to voice creator Matt Groening’s unique characters. John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, and David Herman have all been announced for the upcoming revival.
The series’ official Season 11 synopsis:
“After a brief ten-year hiatus, Futurama has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact. The ten all-new episodes of season eleven have something for everyone. New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries – including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.”
Time has a way of repeating itself as “Futurama” returns. Season 11 premieres exclusively on Hulu on July 24. Watch the new trailer below.
