Barbie: Saoirse Ronan Timothée Chalamet Cameos

Hi, yes, hello! I am literally counting down the days until Barbie hits theaters on July 21. We are so close to THE movie event of the year.

Every single thing that has been revealed about Barbie makes me more and more excited. From the trailer to the posters revealing the characters, all I seem to think about is Barbie.

While the cast is absolutely stacked — Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Issa Rae, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, just to name a few — as a ride-or-die Greta Gerwig fan, I couldn’t help but hope that she had some surprise cameos up her sleeve for Barbie.

Seriously, I’ve been talking about it for weeks:

Saoirse and Timothée have starred in Greta’s other two notable films that she wrote and directed.

First, they appeared in Lady Bird in 2017 as Lady Bird and Kyle.

Then, the duo reunited for Greta’s adaptation of Little Women in 2019 as Jo and Laurie.

Lady Bird earned Greta Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, while Little Women earned her a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.

So, yes, I was sitting here thinking that maybe, JUST MAYBE, Saoirse and Timothée would cameo in Barbie.

Like, my friends and I were hoping for it so much that we even made this meme I’ve been laughing over for days:

Anyway, it turns out a cameo from these two was also on Greta’s mind, because she recently revealed to CinemaBlend that she tried really hard to get them to pop up in Barbie.

“Well, it was always going to have to be like a sort of smaller thing because [Saoirse] was actually producing at the time, which I am so proud of her for. And of course, it’s brilliant. But it was going to be a specialty cameo,” Greta told CinemaBlend.

She continued, saying, “I was also going to do a specialty cameo with Timmy, and both of them couldn’t do it.” While laughing, she added, “I was so annoyed.”

Speaking about her friendship with Saoirse and Timothée, Greta said, “I love them so much. But it felt like doing something without my children.”

“I mean, I’m not their mom, but I sort of feel like their mom.” ?❤️

I continue to absolutely adore how close Greta, Saoirse, and Timothée are, and I hope they get to work together again soon.
