Charlie Cox Wants To Reteam With Tatiana Maslany For Upcoming Disney+ Legacy Series
Dec 29, 2022
It’s not even in production yet, but “Daredevil: Born Again” might be Marvel Studios‘ most anticipated upcoming Disney+ series. But the show arrives at the tail end of Phase 5 in Spring 2024, with shooting set to start this February. That’s a year-plus to wait for fans of the original Netflix show than ran from 2015-2018. Is that too long for fans of Charlie Cox‘s take on the lawyer by day/crimefighter by night Matt Murdoch?

It very well might be, but perhaps Cox will cameo in one of the many MCU Phase 5 installments between now and when “Born Again” premieres, much like he does in this year’s “She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.” And if it’s possible, Cox would love “She-Hulk” lead Tatiana Maslany to show up in Daredevil’s new show, too. “I’ve made it no secret that I’m a huge fan of Tatiana’s and the fun we had on She-Hulk was some of the best fun I’ve had as that character,” Cox told MetroUK in a recent interview. “I thought she was amazing as Jennifer Walters, and I would be a huge… certainly an advocate of her showing up in our show if she’s free and available and willing and all of those things. So I would love for that to happen. I have no idea if that is possible.”
There would be plenty of room for Maslany on “Born Again,” as the show will run a whopping 18 episodes, much longer than the usual 6-9 episodes of other MCU Disney+ shows. In a recent talk with NME, Cox predicted the show’s length may allow “Born Again” to explore its characters more deeply, in a possible serial format. “I’m fascinated to discover why they’ve chosen to do 18,” he said. “I’m imagining there’s going to be an element to it that is like the old-school procedural show,” Cox told NME. “Not necessarily case-of-the-week, but something where we go really deep into Matt Murdock the lawyer and get to see what his life is like. …I think there’s something quite interesting about that, to spend a lot of time in a superhero’s day-to-day life and you really earn the moments when he suits up.”
What else do fans know about “Born Again” so far? “Covert Affairs” creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord write and co-executive produce the series. Vincent D’Onofrio returns to reprise his role as Walter Fisk, aka: Kingpin, from the original Netflix series and Disney+’s “Hawkeye.” Cast newcomers include Michael Gandolfini, Sandrine Holt, and Margarita Levieva. And “Born Again” also shares the same name as a popular comics story from 1986 by legendary writer Frank Miller, so maybe Marvel Studios adapts part of that arc for the series.
Whatever the story format of “Daredevil: Born Again” ends up being, Marvel plans to shoot the series for almost the entirety of 2023, from February through December. So, will Tatiana Maslanay’s Jennifer Wallace/She-Hulk show up or not? Anything’s possible in the MCU… more news on this highly anticipated series soon.
