Jada was among many celebrities who boycotted the 2016 Oscars over its lack of diversity among nominees. There had been predictions that Will would be nominated that year for Concussion, but he ultimately was not. Chris hosted the show in 2016 and joked about the couple’s absence on stage. He also later claimed that Jada had tried to get him to quit hosting, to no avail.
