Mando & Baby Yoda Head To Mandalore For The Ultimate Battle

Jan 17, 2023

When Lucasfilm and Disney pivoted to streaming and Disney+ in late 2019, their first show, “The Mandalorian,” quickly became their flagship series. The “Star Wars” show made a star of Pedro Pascal and quickly made co-creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni the kings of the “Star Wars” television galaxy.
Cut to three years and two seasons later, “The Mandalorian” is set to return on Disney+ in March.

“You are a Mandalorian no more” is how the last trailer started. The Armorer (Emily Swallow) said that the proclamation was an allusion to the fact that Din Djarin, The Mandalorian (Pascal), had taken off his helmet, thus defying the Mandalorian code.
But as we know from past “Star Wars” lore, including the Clone Wars, that rigid Mandalorian law is only adhered to by militant factions. Mandalorians like Bo Katan (Katee Sackhoff), from the animated ‘The Clone Wars’ series, who was introduced in season two, feel no need to adopt such severe dogmas.
You also might be confused if you didn’t see “The Book Of Boba Fett.” Because while The Mandalorian and Grogu, aka Baby Yoda, parted ways at the end of season two, they reunited in the ‘Boba Fett’ show, got that? (It’s confusing, but it’s all supposed to be about interconnected storytelling).
What’s happening in season three, you ask? Well, Mando and Baby Yoda are back in the saddle again, and more importantly,  the action finally returns to Mandalore, the planet where all these Mandalorian warriors come from.
Here’s the official synopsis:
The Mandalorian, Season 3 March 1 on Disney+. The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together. The series stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow and Giancarlo Esposito.
Co-creator Jon Favreau wrote all eight episodes of the season, working with Noah Kloor and Dave Filonil. While not all of the director’s names have been released, we do know that ‘Mandalorian’ veterans Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, and co-star Carl Weathers did helm some of this new season.
Other returning characters include Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon—still on the hunt for Grogu, Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto, and the additions of Christopher Lloyd and Tim Meadows.
“The Mandalorian” returns to Disney+ on March 1. Watch the new trailer below.
