She-Hulk Creator Regrets One Character Not Being in the Series Finale

Dec 10, 2022

Jessica Gao revealed that despite She-Hulk’s run ending with several big cameos, there is one person missing she regrets not including.

Marvel Studios

The finale of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law delivered a number of cameos, even bringing in Wong one more time for good measure, but there is one person who creator Jessica Gao regrets not having in the closing of the show. Over the nine episode series, there was one character who instantly grabbed the attention of the public and that was a certain fun-loving party-girl by the name of Madisynn, played by the endearing Patty Guggenheim, and her absence from the finale was the only thing that could have been potentially added to the already stacked line-up.

She-Hulk’s final episode brought to an end what has been an enjoyable series for those who didn’t come into it expecting the usual Marvel fare. While there have been plenty of cameos, Easter eggs, teases for the future and some epic fights, She-Hulk had an ulterior motive, which was to buck a number of Marvel trends. While that included not ending with an epic finale showdown, the last episode of She-Hulk’s run delivered the kind of meta humor that her comics have been known for as well as a whole host of cameos, but Gao confessed that she was disappointed not having Madisynn as part of it. She told Variety:
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“[Marvel Studios President] Kevin [Feige] was very specific about with Skaar, so I’m sure there’s some plan in the future, though I have no idea what that might be. We all knew that Daredevil had to come back because people love him and their chemistry is so great. I only wish that Patty Guggenheim as Madisynn had come back in the finale. That’s my great regret.”

She-Hulk Set Up a Number of Marvel Teases For the Future

Over the course of the series, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law threw in many blink-and-you-miss-it teases for many Marvel projects of the future including mention in passing of Wolverine. For the final, the last reel packed in many more such moments, such as the arrival of Skaar, more Daredevil, and in the post credits scene Wong once again breaking Emil Blonsky out of his prison to take him to Kamar-Taj. All of this, and the huge number of minor Marvel characters who appeared during the series, gave She-Hulk a feel that the team had been given the keys to the toy box and told to go and have fun.

Whatever complaints have been made about She-Hulk, the series has constantly sounded off against the often toxic social media comments made about not only Marvel but shows and films in general. The ability for Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters to address viewers directly is certainly something that helped the show get is message across. Whether we will see She-Hulk return in a second season is still seemingly up in the air, with both Gao and Maslany refusing to get too drawn in to whether another season has been discussed. However, as a break from the norm, She-Hulk has been a breath of fresh air and another of Marvel’s experimental Disney+ shows that has continued to take the MCU down different avenues.
