Jason Segel & Harrison Ford Star In New Comedy Series From The Creator Of ‘Ted Lasso’
Jan 18, 2023
You might not think that a TV series about a therapist struggling with the death of his wife and a career listening to other people talk about their issues would be a comedy from the co-creator of “Ted Lasso.” And yet, “Shrinking” does appear to be another Bill Lawrence-produced, feel-good comedy, coming to Apple TV+ later this month.
As mentioned, in the trailer for “Shrinking,” we see the series follows the story of a grieving therapist (Jason Segel), as he struggles to come to terms with his wife’s sudden passing, while also raising a young daughter and trying to balance a career. However, things change when he attempts a radical new therapy strategy, which also helps him with his own life.

Joining Jason Segel in the cast is none other than Harrison Ford, who plays one of his colleagues/mentors. The cast also includes Jessica Williams, Christa Miller, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, and Lukita Maxwell. The series is co-created by the aforementioned Lawrence, as well as Segel and Brett Goldstein.
Lawrence and Goldstein are best known for the award-winning comedy series, “Ted Lasso.” Obviously, Apple TV+ is hoping the duo can strike gold again with “Shrinking,” as the service quickly becomes a go-to streamer for great comedy series. In addition to “Ted Lasso,” Apple TV+ is also the destination for series such as “The Afterparty,” “Mythic Quest,” and “Schmigadoon!”
“Shrinking” debuts on Apple TV+ on January 27. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
Shrinking follows a grieving therapist (played by Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives…including his own.
