Normani had to work from home for the 2024 BET Awards.

The Fifth Harmony alum shared that wasn’t able to perform at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles for the awards show after injuring her knee in a “really bad accident.”

“I am more frustrated and disappointed than anyone believe me,” Normani wrote in a June 30 Instagram Story. “I wanted to get on here and give you guys an update letting you know that while in rehearsals for BET I had a really bad accident and injured myself.” (Check out all the stars who were able to attend the 2024 BET Awards here.)

And while the 28-year-old would normally be “powering through under any circumstance,” she said her medical team wouldn’t allow it. 

“I desperately wanted to give you by on that stage,” she continued, “but performing would delay my healing.” 

Normani—who also shared a photo of her using crutches and wearing a knee bandage—wanted her fans to know that they won’t be alone in their disappointment over her absence, noting that she’s been doing her best to “make sense” of her own emotions regarding the accident.
