Ryan Reynolds Hints There’s More to Deadpool & Wolverine’s Thor Scene
Aug 4, 2024
Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for Deadpool & Wolverine.
Ryan Reynolds has teased an explanation for one of the more mystifying moments in Deadpool & Wolverine. Spoilers to follow, as the MCU sequel features a short scene in which a dying Deadpool is being held by Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. Shown the images by Mr. Paradox at the Time Variance Authority, it is not revealed why such tragedy befalls the Merc With a Mouth…or why Thor is so upset about it. However, Reynolds has now revealed that he does know exactly why the powerful Asgardian has been brought to tears…and it sounds like it could be pretty traumatic.
“I know why Thor was crying. I can’t unknow it.”
Reynolds took to X/Twitter to share an image from the brief scene, which uses footage from Thor: The Dark World, swapping out Deadpool for Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and thus showing Thor cradling Wade in his arms like a brother. At present, the pair have not met, but could this emotional moment be a tease of Deadpool’s ill-fated future as an Avenger? Perhaps it could even be a hit of what’s to come when the Marvel heroes band together in Avengers: Secret Wars? For now, Reynolds will just have to shoulder this burden of knowledge alone.

While Hemsworth is one of the few Marvel stars not to feature in Deadpool & Wolverine (asicde from in old footage), the actor has previously praised being included when speaking with Comicbook.com…
“It’s really cool. You kind of forget and be like, ‘Oh, cool! I’m part of the team. They’re talking about me!’ when I’m not in it. I mean, that whole world is really cool to be a part of, and any time each other… I think it’s what makes it all really cool is the interconnected nature of it.”

Speaking of trauma, many a Wolverine and Logan fan may want to look away now. As well as teasing the reason behind Thor’s emotional scars, Ryan Reynolds has also taken to social media to reveal a new poster for the MCU outing. Taking inspiration from the Oscar-winning cinematic classic Forrest Gump, the new poster finds Deadpool sharing a log with…Wolverine’s corpse. You can check out the new poster below.
