Girl You Know It’s True
Aug 8, 2024
The always charming Matthias Schweighöfer spoke with MovieWeb’s Greg Archer about his new music biopic, Girl You Know It’s True, an ’80s period piece about the man and band that scammed the world, Milli Vanilli. Schweighöfer also touched on Brick, his upcoming sci-fi film for Netflix with his partner, Ruby O. Fee. Girl You Know It’s True hits theaters on August 9th, 2024.
Nominated in the Best German Actor category at the 2024 Jupiter Awards for his role, Schweighöfer is compelling as Frank Farian, the man behind the creation of superstar R&B duo Milli Vanilli in this fast-paced, ‘80s-set music industry cautionary tale. Under the name Milli Vanilli, Rob Pilatus and Fab Morvan storm the international charts, land three number one hits in the USA and enjoy the extravagant life in Hollywood. At the height of their fame, Rob and Fab even win a Grammy, but behind the glamour, the truth threatens to turn Milli Vanilli into the biggest scandal in music history.
