Michael Keaton is a renowned and versatile actor with a prolific career spanning decades. From quintessential roles in Batman, Night Shift, Mr. Mom and Beetlejuice in his “heydays”, Keaton has experienced a career resurgence, garnering critical acclaim for his performances in Spotlight, The Founder and The Trial of the Chicago 7. The Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe winner continues to be a respected and sought-after Hollywood actor with another fine turn… this time in Goodrich, which opens in cinemas on 25 October, 2024.
He plays Andy Goodrich, a seasoned journalist, who finds his life in disarray when his wife abruptly enters a 90-day rehab program. Suddenly left to his own devices, he’s confronted with the complexities of modern parenthood. Now going it alone, Andy must grapple with the daunting task of raising their nine-year-old twins.
Andy turns to his daughter from his first marriage for support in spite of their complicated relationship. A successful and independent woman, Grace puts their differences aside in a bid to help Andy overcome this challenging time and adopt his new role. From school drop-offs and pick-ups to late-night meltdowns, Andy discovers he’s out of his depth and forced to confront the demands of raising children in the 21st century.
Andy undergoes a profound transformation over the course of this splash in the deep end, learning how to balance his career with his responsibilities as a father. Through Grace’s guidance, he develops a deeper understanding of his children’s needs and draws closer to his twins. At first overwhelming, he discovers there’s still a chance to mend things with his daughter, Grace.
Goodrich is a poignant portrayal of the challenges and rewards of fatherhood and explores themes of family, love and redemption. Keaton delivers a strong and nuanced performance opposite Mila Kunis in a heartwarming and thoughtful exploration of parenthood in the here and now.
