Elizabeth Olsen & Jesse Plemons Take A Crack At Candy Montgomery In Upcoming HBO Max Series

Feb 16, 2023

“Love & Death” is the second project in a year to focus on Candy Montgomery, a killer accused of murdering Betty Gore, the wife of Allan Gore, with whom she had an extramarital affair. Montgomery was portrayed by Jessica Biel in the Hulu series titled “Candy,” which saw Melanie Lynskey and Pablo Schreiber play Betty and Allan Gore, respectively.  The show also starred Justin Timberlake, Jason Ritter, and Adam Bartley. Biel and Lynskey were both nominated at the Hollywood Critics Association’s TV Awards for Best Actress and Supporting Actress in a Streaming Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
Now, Elizabeth Olsen will be playing Montgomery in the upcoming HBO Max series “Love & Death,” with Lily Rabe and Jesse Plemons portraying Betty and Allan Gore. She will also be joined by Patrick Fugit, Keir Gilchrist, Elizabeth Marvel, Krysten Ritter, Tom Pelphrey, and Beth Broderick. The series was created by David E. Kelley, who wrote all episodes, and was directed by Lesli Linka Glatter.
In a recent interview with Variety, Olsen said that the tone of the show isn’t dark and that they “were trying to find the humor as much as possible. […] What’s fun for me is trying to understand why people make the decisions they make. I just feel like that’s my role is to defend, defend, defend. And so I adore her, and I’m impressed by her.”
Its plot synopsis reads, This riveting drama, written by David E. Kelley and directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, tells the true story of Candy and Pat Montgomery and Betty and Allan Gore – two churchgoing couples enjoying their smalltown Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe.
Produced by Kelley, Glatter, Nicole Kidman, Per Saari, Scott Brown, Megan Creydt, Matthew Tinker, Michael Klick, and Helen Verno, “Love & Death” will release on HBO Max on April 27.
