Domino’s MCU Future Gets Uncertain Update From Star After Deadpool & Wolverine Absence

Mar 10, 2025

Domino actor Zazie Beetz addresses her Marvel mutant’s absence in Deadpool & Wolverine after her introduction in Deadpool 2. Before Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman’s Logan starred in their first MCU movie, Deadpool starred in two extremely popular solo movies in Fox’s X-Men franchise, 2016’s Deadpool and 2018’s Deadpool 2. In Deadpool 2, Wade Wilson not only led his own X-Force team, but he also befriended two famous mutant characters who had never appeared in a live-action movie before — Josh Brolin’s Cable and Zazie Beetz’ Domino. Despite their positive reception, however, Deadpool & Wolverine’s packed cast didn’t include Cable and Domino.
Speaking to ScreenRant at the SXSW premiere of Andre Gaines’ The Dutchman, Deadpool 2’s Domino star Zazie Beetz confirms that there haven’t been talks of Domino’s return in the MCU. Beetz suggests she’s still interest in reprising her Deadpool 2 role, joking, “I talk about it to myself,” and leaves the possibility open. Read Beetz’ comments below:

I haven’t had any talks with Marvel, but I talk about it to myself. [Laughs] So, I don’t know. I’d have to find a writer and do all that work, but maybe, who knows?

Domino May Not Appear In The MCU For A While

Josh Brolin’s Cable and Zazie Beetz’s Domino didn’t return for Deadpool & Wolverine, probably because Deadpool & Wolverine’s cast was already chock-full of characters. Zazie Beetz’ comments confirm she hasn’t discussed Domino’s future appearances either, which suggests that Domino won’t return in Avengers: Doomsday, which is starting production in 2025. Given that Avengers: Secret Wars is set for release in 2027, it’s possible that Zazie Beetz also won’t reprise her Domino role for the Multiverse Saga’s epic conclusion.

The MCU’s New X-Men Series Sets Up The Perfect Way To Make Deadpool & Wolverine’s “Until He’s 90” Threat A Reality For Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine

An MCU X-Men series is reportedly on the way, as the show’s revealed story would present the perfect way for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine to return.

However, Marvel Studios will likely keep Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars’ supporting characters and cameos under wraps for as long as possible until each movie’s release. Due to their multiversal nature, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars provide many characters from Fox’s X-Men movie franchise with their biggest chance to return in the MCU. After that, the MCU’s X-Men movies and shows could wipe the slate clean and introduce new versions of every mutant, including another Domino. Hence, Zazie Beetz’ Domino and Josh Brolin’s Cable could still make a small appearance in either of the MCU’s next two Avengers movies.
Zazie Beetz’ Domino Deserves To Come Back At Least Once More

Domino is a particularly tough character to include in any story, live-action or otherwise, due to her luck-based mutant powers. Deadpool 2 adapted Domino’s powers and personality flawlessly, and it set up her future adventures alongside Deadpool’s X-Force. While integrating Wade Wilson and Logan into the MCU in Deadpool & Wolverine is a huge feat on its own, Marvel Studios could still do Domino and Cable justice by bringing them back for at least one more mission together.
