Carl Radke Opens up About Summer House Season 9

Mar 13, 2025

A new season of Bravo’s reality TV show Summer House is back, and it promises to be a spicy one, as viewers have been intrigued by what the new dynamic between exes Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard will be now since their split last season. Season 8 of the show gave viewers an inside look at what their future together would be like, and it was clear the relationship had its cracks, but no one expected them to break up at the end of it. Since the season wrapped, they have both moved on in their own ways, with Carl moving forward and opening his own bar, Soft Bar soon, and with Lindsay being in a relationship and getting pregnant. They each went their own ways, but Season 9 would bring them back together for another summer and no one knew how they would be around each other.
Speaking to Collider, Carl explains his mindset when coming back for the new season and how there was never a thought in his mind of not coming back to the show because of his situation with Lindsay. He explains how he has been going to the Hamptons for many years and that he can’t imagine not doing that during his weekends. Besides the Lindsay of it all, he gave Collider a sneak peek at what it was like to open his new bar.
The Thought of Not Coming Back to Summer House Didn’t Cross His Mind

Carl Radke has been a staple piece of Summer House since Season One. He is one of the three remaining OGs of the show, including Lindsay Hubbard and Kyle Cooke. The three of them have been “sending it” in the Hamptons for many years prior to the show and their relationships grew stronger thanks to the show. A relationship that grew to a deeper level was the one between Carl and Lindsay, as they were always considered a “will they, will they not” type of relationship. Ultimately, the two got together and started dating during Season 6. Their connection grew very quickly and during Season 7 of the show, the two got engaged. They had officially become the second Summer House cast members to have gotten engaged on the show, besides Kyle and Amanda Batula.
Even though it seemed like Lindsay had finally reached the fairytale she had wanted of getting married to her best friend, things changed for them during Season 8, and they decided to break up and end their engagement. Coming into Season 9, the thought on everyone’s mind was “What could go wrong with having two exes living in the same house for the summer, and will one of them not come back?”
Speaking to Collider, Carl explained how there was never a thought of him not coming back to the show because of what had happened with Lindsay. “I knew coming into this summer it was going to be a challenge just navigating the past relationship and trying to start a new chapter, but I was looking forward to that. I thought it was a chance to heal and move on and start a new chapter with everybody. I was excited for that.” Carl also emphasized how it never crossed his mind to not come back, because the Hamptons have been a part of his life for ten years, and he wants to show how a person who is sober is still able to have fun while being in a party town. “It hasn’t crossed my mind that I shouldn’t be back out there, like I’ve been going out there as long as everybody else so for me, it’s looked a little different in the last few years. Yeah, I don’t drink, but I also feel like that’s important for people to see someone that doesn’t drink but is still social and hangs out with a group of people that do.”
Things Have Been Looking Up For Carl Since He is Opening His Bar

Even though Carl broke off his engagement with Lindsay, she has moved on into a new relationship and become a mother. Carl’s biggest wish during Season 8 was to try to open his own bar in which people who don’t drink can get together and enjoy their time without having to get alcohol. In comes his new bar, Soft Bar. While speaking to Collider, he explained what the most exciting thing about opening has been. “The most exciting thing has been creating a space for people to come and sit down and enjoy a non-alcoholic beverage at any point of the day. I really think once people come and sit down and experience kind of what I’ve been trying to talk about. People will realize it’s not about just not drinking alcohol, there’s a lot of people who are looking for places to sit down and enjoy themselves in a really beautiful environment.”
When it comes to the challenges of opening his own space, Carl brought back how Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz from Vanderpump Rules had their challenges when opening their restaurant. “I love trying to be someone to pioneer something unique, but it’s not easy opening your own space and a four-wall business is really challenging. I mean, ask the Sandoval and Schwartz in LA. Bars in general are not an easy investment even if you do serve alcohol. It’s not lost on me that it’s a tricky industry, it’s a challenging one, but I’m beyond passionate about it.” Viewers will get a sneak peek of how Carl came up with the idea of his bar throughout this season and see him thrive throughout it as well.
