Why Chappell Roan Is Pivoting to Country Music With “The Giver” Song (Exclusive)

Good luck Lady Liberty.

While Chappell Roan’s Statue of Liberty look from the 2024 Governors Ball certainly stole the show, the “Hot To Go” singer revealed that getting out of the costume wasn’t without its challenges. After all, she was sprayed with green paint everywhere—including the places harder to reach.

“I don’t think people know this,” Chappell revealed on the March 25 episode of Call Her Daddy. “I just spread my cheeks and get sprayed with green.”

During her Gov Ball set, Chappell pulled out all the stops for her homage to New York City, including emerging from a red apple, pairing her green body paint with a crown headpiece, green tube top and skirt, which later she swapped for a yellow taxi dress.

And as expected, the paint was not easy to remove. Plus, it had some NSFW side effects.

“Like it didn’t come off,” Chappell explained to host Alex Cooper. “The way I got that off was I took three baths, not soap, dish soap. I literally poured dish soap in and scrubbed my whole body with coconut oil, jumped in, scrubbed with a literal, like, kitchen sponge.”
