Feb 23, 2023

Writer and director Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) has partnered up with Likely Story + ArtClass to direct a short film called Jackals & Fireflies. The short serves as an advertisement for Samsung phones, but it’s first and foremost a beautifully made short film that fans of Kaufman and his storytelling style are going to enjoy. The film was shot on Galaxy S22 Ultra phones and it’s based on a poem by Eva H.D. Here’s the synopsis:A woman wanders the streets of New York City, takes buses and trains, sits in bars and coffee shops, experiencing the city’s diverse neighborhoods, while thinking about her life, her loneliness, unrequited love. She finds moments of communion with various people she meets along the way and with the city itself. This project builds on the Filmed #withGalaxy campaign, which invites visionary directors to demonstrate that the Samsung Galaxy is the perfect tool they need to share their epic stories with the world.Check out the short film below and let us know what you think.
