Marvel icon Spider-Man swings into CinemaCon thanks to Sony Pictures and Spider-Man 4. The ongoing deal between Sony and Marvel Studios puts the beloved web-slinger in something of a limbo state in which Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is part of the MCU…and a little separate.
During CinemaCon, Sony Pictures announced that the upcoming MCU sequel is now titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The title seemingly refers to a new beginning in Peter Parker’s life after the world forgot who he was at the end of No Way Home. The Brand New Day subtitle actually surfaced online late last year, so it seems Sony and Marvel Studios have been set on the new title convention for quite some time now.
Set to follow the events of 2021’s billion-dollar blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw Peter Parker battling various villains from the previous iterations of the Spider-Man franchise, as well as teaming up with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s respective versions of Peter Parker, rumors abound regarding what Spider-Man 4 will be about. While many hope that Spider-Man 4 will bring the character back to his street-level origins, there is also much speculation that the follow-up will once again take the wall-crawler on a grand multiversal adventure.

We do know that Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed the MCU outing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will helm the Spider-Man sequel, which is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026. Tom Holland will reprise the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Stranger Things star Sadie Sink recently joining the cast.

While we know that Tom Holland will return to swing between buildings and clean up crime in Spider-Man 4, the actor was noticeably missing from the recent Avengers: Doomsday casting announcement. The livestream, which proved to be hugely popular despite just showing the backs of chairs, confirmed that several familiar faces from the MCU’s past, including (deep breath) Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic.

All of whom will likely be experly manipulated by Iron Man star and Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr., who returns to the MCU as Victor von Doom, AKA Doctor Doom.
