If you’ve been hoping to see Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin face off against Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the next Marvel movie, don’t hold your breath. According to D’Onofrio himself, the odds aren’t looking great.“The only thing I know is not positive. It’s a very hard thing to do, for Marvel to use my character. It’s a very hard thing to do, because of ownership and stuff,” he explained during a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast when asked about any plans for Fisk to appear in an MCU movie like Spider-Man 4.He added: “Right now, I’m only usable for television series. Different kinds of series, whatever it is, but not even a one-off Fisk movie or anything like that, it’s all caught up in rights and stuff. I don’t know when that would work out, or if it ever would work out at all, actually.”Fans are loving D’Onofrio’s version of Wilson Fisk, who made made his debut on Netflix’s Daredevil, and has since stepped into the broader MCU via Disney+ shows like Hawkeye, Echo, and now Daredevil: Born Again. With Spider-Man 4, now officially titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, on the way, there’s been a lot of speculation about potential crossovers, especially after Charlie Cox’s Daredevil popped up in No Way Home. But, for now, that long-awaited Spider-Man vs. Kingpin showdown remains stuck in the realm of “maybe someday.” But, not anytime soon. Tom Holland is set to return in Brand New Day, with Stranger Things star Sadie Sink joining the cast in an undisclosed role. As for D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, we’ll just have to continue to enjoy him in Daredevil: Born Again.
