Jason Statham’s Panned Action Thriller ‘Parker’ Is a Hit on Free Streaming

Apr 10, 2025

Action movie icon Jason Statham

continues to draw a crowd thanks to his gritty magnetism and unmatched ability to make punching people a cinematic sight to behold. That’s even the case when the action movie he’s leading is panned by both critics and audiences alike. Such is the case with the 2013 action thriller, Parker

, which is now a free streaming hit.

The Stath once again demonstrates his particular set of skills in this tale of a professional thief who finds himself double-crossed and left for dead. And, clearly, audiences cannot get enough. Parker has now entered the top 10 on the free streaming platform Tubi

, joining the likes of Jackie Chan’s Rush Hour, Vin Diesel’s xXx and The Last Witch Hunter, and Wesley Snipes and Tommy Lee Jones’ underrated thriller US Marshals.

Panned 2025 Action Movie Leaves Jason Statham in the Dust on Streaming

The largely unknown action outing is beating the likes of Jason Statham’s ‘The Beekeeper’ on streaming.

Directed by Taylor Hackford and written by John J. McLaughlin, Parker sees Jason Statham team-up with Jennifer Lopez while facing off against The Shield star and fellow bald action hero Michael Chiklis. Parker is now available to stream for free (with ads), and you can check out the official synopsis below.

“Daring, ruthless and meticulous, Parker (Jason Statham) is one of the most successful thieves in the business. But when his latest robbery turns deadly because of a careless crew member, he declines to join crime boss Melander (Michael Chiklis) and his gang for another heist. The crooks turn on Parker and leave him for dead. Parker survives and vows vengeance, tracing the gang to Palm Beach. There, he joins forces with an unlikely ally (Jennifer Lopez) to hijack the gang’s next big score.”

The Stath Has Plenty of Action Fare in the Pipeline

Amazon MGM Studios

Parker was met with mixed reviews upon release, landing 41% from critics and 48% from audiences, respectively, on Rotten Tomatoes. While the action outing is unlikely to count itself as a “Jason Statham Favorite” among the likes of The Beekeeper, The Transporter, Wrath of Man, or his Fast and Furious efforts, audiences clearly don’t mind and are happy enough simply watching The Stath go toe-to-toe with Michael Chiklis as he enacts his revenge.
Jason Statham continues to fly the flag for no-nonsense action movies, with the actor and martial artist all set to lead Plane director Jean-François Richet’s Mutiny, which finds him on the run after his billionaire industrialist boss is murdered. It has also now been confirmed that Statham will join forces with The Night Comes for Us and The Shadow Strays director Timo Tjahjanto for The Beekeeper 2, and unite with Angel Has Fallen filmmaker Ric Roman Waugh for a mysterious new project.
Just las month, Statham reunited with The Beekeeper director David Ayer for the Sylvester Stallone-scripted action outing, A Working Man. Starring David Harbour, Michael Peña, Jason Flemyng, Arianna Rivas, Noemi Gonzalez, and Emmett J. Scanlan, A Working Man has been another success for The Stath, and you can check out the official synopsis below.

“Levon Cade left behind a decorated military career in the black ops to live a simple life working construction. But when his boss’s daughter, who is like family to him, is taken by human traffickers, his search to bring her home uncovers a world of corruption far greater than he ever could have imagined.”
