Second ‘Superman’ Trailer Might Be Released on April 18 for Superman Day
Apr 17, 2025
James Gunn is hard at work editing the next Superman trailer, but it seems it already has a release date. Yes, fans were just treated to a lengthy clip of David Corenswet’s Kal-El getting his wounds treated at the Fortress of Solitude, but the hype for a new trailer has not died down.
At the end of a new interview between Gunn and DC’s Chief Creative Officer, Jim Lee, it advises fans to celebrate Superman day on Apr. 18, just in time for the upcoming movie. Now, it doesn’t announce a new trailer or anything of the sort, but it’s quite clear that WB and DC want fans to pay close attention on that particular day. The timing certainly makes sense, as it would be a few weeks after the five-minute preview of Superman released in theaters during A Minecraft Movie before being subsequently released online.

‘Superman’ merchandise is starting to roll out, and this is the best look at a replica of a must-have piece of Green Lantern memorabilia.
It’s been an exciting month for DCU fans, and it’s only getting started. Gunn recently released the first teaser for Peacemaker Season 2, the long-awaited return of Max’s mature-rated superhero series. Now set in the rebooted DC Universe, John Cena’s unconventional vigilante resides in the same franchise as Superman, and will feature a character or two that will cross over from the big screen to the streaming show. Meanwhile, the next trailer for Superman is expected to release at some point this month. However, if it’s not on Apr. 18, then fans will likely have to remain patient for the time being, and potentially until May.
‘Superman’ Star Confirms What Fans Have Long Suspected About the DCU Film
Warner Bros.
James Gunn won’t be repeating a DC superhero movie trope in Superman, one of its stars has confirmed. Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane, recently revealed that Superman won’t be telling the titular character’s origin story. Fans that love watching Ka-El crash landing on earth and subsequent life in Smallville might be disappointed, others will rejoice in knowing that the new DCU film throws the audience right into a world with established characters and relationships.
“I also love that this is not an origin story. We’ve seen the origin story done so well a number of different times, but we come into a world that already exists — Lois and Clark are working at the Daily Planet, monsters exist in Metropolis, Lex Luthor has LuthorCorp. We drop in at this point in their relationship that I’ve never seen before.”
Additionally, Brosnahan confirmed that Superman will take place three months into Lois and Clark’s romantic relationship, with the couple unsure about their future together.
“They’ve been together for about three months, and they’re asking some questions about the future of their relationship. They’re not sure if this is something that was just a really great fling or something that could be forever, and they have really opposite worldviews — and they bump up against each other that way. So, it was a really fun way into a familiar story.”
