‘War’ Starring Jason Statham & Jet LI Is Streaming Free in May
Apr 30, 2025
Action movie icon Jason Statham Jason Statham
goes to war with a martial arts legend in the 2007 action thriller War
…and it’s coming to free streaming. While the movie was panned by critics at the time, the sight of The Stath exchanging punches with the one and only Jet Li
is surely enough to satisfy genre fans. And, if it’s not, then perhaps you need to rethink your life choices.
Directed by Philip G. Atwell in his directorial debut and featuring fight scenes choreographed by the late, great Corey Yuen of The Transporter fame, War stars Jason Statham as a bruised FBI agent on the hunt for a mysterious assassin, Jet Li’s Rogue, after his partner is killed. Featuring blistering fight sequences and one of the wildest twists you’ve ever come across, War is all set to hit the free streaming platform Tubi
on May 1, and you can check out the official synopsis below.

The action thriller will soon begin production, director Timo Tjahjanto has revealed.
“After his partner and family are killed, FBI agent Jack Crawford (Jason Statham) becomes obsessed with revenge on an assassin named Rogue (Jet Li). Rogue’s return sparks a violent war between rival Asian mobsters Chang (John Lone) and Shiro (Ryo Ishibashi), while the ultimate showdown between Crawford and Rogue reveals the truth.”
‘War’ Holds a Rating of 14% on Rotten tomatoes…but There’s Plenty for Action Fans To Enjoy
Lionsgate
Sadly, War was mauled by critics upon release and holds a score of just 14% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics took issue with the sheer level of clichés on display, but audiences weren’t quite so adverse, with War holding a more divisive score of 51% on the Popcornmeter. Reuniting The One co-stars Jason Statham and Jet Li, it’s hard not to argue with the assessment that War doesn’t quite live up to the legacy of the two action stars. However, most action fans will be happy to devour any morsel of the two of them throwing down. Add that to the movie’s final twist, which paints both main characters in a completely different light and instantly warrants a rewatch, should be more than enough to tempt genre fans. Especially when it’s free.
Jason Statham continues to fly the flag for gloriously no-nonsense action movies. Just last month, The Stath took the lead in the Sylvester Stallone-scripted and David Ayer (The Beekeeper) directed A Working Man. Starring David Harbour (Stranger Things), Michael Peña (End of Watch), Jason Flemyng (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Arianna Rivas (The Black Phone 2), Noemi Gonzalez (Selena: The Series), and Emmett J. Scanlan (Peaky Blinders, Kin) alongside Jason Statham, A Working Man has been another big hit for the action star, and you can check out the official synopsis below.
“Levon Cade left behind a decorated military career in the black ops to live a simple life working construction. But when his boss’s daughter, who is like family to him, is taken by human traffickers, his search to bring her home uncovers a world of corruption far greater than he ever could have imagined.”
