Rebirth’ Gets Dino-Sized Rating for “Intense Sequences of Violence and Action”

May 1, 2025

This July will be an exciting month for cinemagoers as The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Superman, and Jurassic World: Rebirth – all are coming to theatres. While fans are always hyped for superheroe flicks, the upcoming Rebirth has garnered much excitement for its dinosaurs. The Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey-starring movie has garnered a bloody good rating that ties back to the original Jurassic Park’s rating.
Just like its mothership, Jurassic World: Rebirth has been rated PG-13 for “intense sequences of violence/action, bloody images, some suggestive references, language, and a drug reference.” The rating is further exciting as it hints at big action set pieces as well as the fact that the movie will not hold back in dinosaur action.
What to Expect From ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’?

The film is helmed by Gareth Edwards, who is well known for features like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Godzilla, ensuring fans will get all the thrilling action as well as an emotional core. While plot details are kept tightly under wraps, the film’s screenwriter, David Koepp, previously revealed that the tone will be closer to the original film than the sequels, saying:

“I hope people like the movie because the series tended to change after [Jurassic Park III], and it felt like, ‘Okay, so let’s change our tone.’ Steven [Spielberg] and I were interested in a tone that was maybe more akin to the very first movie. I saw it early on as a mission movie. I like things that are driven by bottles, by containment. Developing a limited team and a thing that they have to accomplish – that was all really fun. And it was just fun to return to that world of great adventure backed by real science and write some cool new characters. You don’t often get a chance to have a blank slate and say, ‘What do you want to do?’ There were no franchise expectations other than dinosaurs.”

The film has an impeccable line-up of stars, including Johansson as Zora Bennett, Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid, Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis, Rupert Friend as Martin Krebs, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Reuben Delgado. Further rounding off the cast are Luna Blaise as Teresa Delgado, David Iacono as Xavier Dobbs, Audrina Miranda as Isabella Delgado, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain and Ed Skrein, all as members of Zora’s team.
Jurassic World: Rebirth brings back dinosaurs to theatres on July 25. Stay tuned to Collider for more such updates.
