Andor Creator Reveals Original Movie As Next Project, But Hollywood Won’t Fund It
May 15, 2025
Andor creator Tony Gilroy reveals plans for his next original movie project with Oscar Isaac that Hollywood will not fund. Isaac is known to Star Wars fans as the Resistance pilot and eventual leader Poe Dameron in the sequel trilogy movies The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. He is also known for his roles in Ex Machina, Inside Llewyn Davis, Dune, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
In an interview with Deadline, Gilroy reveals that he has written an original movie titled Behemoth! but is having a difficult time financing the project. Gilroy details that his next project is about “movie music” and the people who make it, and he has Isaac set to star in the movie. However, he is facing problems getting things started and is still working on trying to raise the money needed to finance the movie. Check out his comments below:
I wrote a movie Behemoth! that I’m trying to get off the ground. It’s about movie music, the people who make it. I have Oscar Isaac. I’ve been trying to raise the money, but I’ve been having a lot of trouble.
What This Means For Behemoth!
The Behemoth! Soundtrack Won’t Disappoint
Isaac has a strong musical background, having played in ska-punk bands before becoming an actor. As the former frontman of ska-punk band The Blinking Underdogs and guitarist of The Worms, the Star Wars actor then incorporated his passion for music into his acting career. Isaac sang and wrote the song “Never Had” in the movie 10 Years. He also played a tortured folk musician in the 2013 movie Inside Llewyn Davis.

Oscar Isaac has risen to prominence as an actor over the years, with a variety of movies and TV shows to his name, including several big franchises.
With Behemoth! being a movie about people making movie music, Isaac seems like a very appealing choice. However, the ongoing funding issues could suggest that the movie might take a long time to be made, and the worst case is that the movie might not come to fruition. In the same interview, Gilroy expressed his desire to depart from the Star Wars universe, having written the screenplay for the 2016 Rogue One and after creating two seasons of Andor.
Our Take On Tony Gilroy’s New Original Movie
It’s A Bold Project That Has Potential

Movies about music are sometimes considered niche, with most titles focusing on well-known stars to attract a crowd. Gilroy’s new movie music film sounds like a bold idea, given that the premise is more commonly seen in documentaries than movies, but Behemoth! is not without its appeal. From Hans Zimmer to John Williams, film composers are responsible for creating some of the most iconic sonic signatures in cinema, and a project that dives into their lives taps into an underdeveloped territory in the market. Now that Andor is over, Behemoth! could be the next big thing with the right execution.
