Dwayne Johnson took to Twitter to refute earlier reports stating he unfollowed Warner Bros. Discovery and the Black Adam social media account.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is refuting earlier claims surrounding his social media following, as the Black Adam actor claims he’s never followed Warner Bros. Discovery or the official Black Adam Instagram account. The news first made waves earlier today as @BrandonDavisBD on Twitter claimed Johnson was on an unfollowing spree, which looked to be the latest in a long line of drama for the DC Universe.
However, Johnson took to Twitter to respond to the now-deleted tweet, as he said he didn’t follow the social media accounts in question.
“100% not true. Never followed either account on IG.”
@BrandonDavidBD responded to the clarification, saying he would delete the tweet to avoid spreading false info. Johnson was quick to respond with an understanding message, though he admits he isn’t fond of the current climate surrounding movies and filmmaking.

“We’re always good bro. Insanely toxic time and culture. On a positive note tell your mama I said hi!!”
Although Johnson claims he never unfollowed Warner Bros. Discovery or the Black Adam account, the actor certainly has some frustrations toward the current direction of the DCU. While James Gunn and Peter Safran’s vision may be for the best, it seems like Johnson’s time in the DC Universe is coming to an abrupt close.

The DCU Wants to Replicate the MCU
Warner Bros.DC
Johnson was the man behind Henry Cavill’s return as Superman earlier this year in the Black Adam post-credit scene, a feat that took years to accomplish, according to the actor. Black Adam was supposed to change the hierarchy of power in the DCU, which it did, for a few months. Now, as Peter Safran and James Gunn take charge of the universe currently in a reboot phase, all characters from the DCEU and Zack Snyder’s interpretations seem to be getting kicked to the curb.
Of course, DC is looking to replicate the success of Marvel and the MCU, which has been the leading example in conducting a connected universe spanning well over a decade. Gunn, known for his work on The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise in the MCU, found success with DC before his recent promotion, helming Peacemaker, an instant hit for HBO Max with John Cena as the titular character. The series was a spinoff of The Suicide Squad, which was a reboot in its own way, aside from Margot Robbie and Viola Davis reprising their roles as Harley Quinn and Amanda Waller, respectively.
Now, Gunn is expected to reveal some of their plans for the DCU at the turn of the new year, featuring a younger take on Superman and an essential Batman going forward. But, for now, fans can enjoy the final DCEU outings, with The Flash set for release on June 16, 2023, followed by Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on December 25, 2023.
