How did Hawai’i deal with a significant point in its history? “Chief of War” sees a warrior, Ka’iana, attempt to unite the islands. His world is even more complicated by the looming threats posed by colonization. Jason Momoa portrays Ka’iana, but this project is far more than a starring role. The actor, currently winning over fans in “A Minecraft Movie,” co-created the series with writer Thomas Pa’a Sibbett. Momoa additionally directs the season finale and co-writes the first episode.
