Brand New Day’ to Reportedly Feature Scorpion, Boomerang & Tombstone
May 27, 2025
Despite recent casting developments, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been shrouded in mystery. The MCU sequel, which stars Tom Holland and Sadie Sink, is set to be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) and will usher in a new era for the web-slinger. That said, it seems Brand New Day will feature at least three different villains, one of which has already made their MCU debut.
According to Chris Higashi, an attendee at the Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products presentation, the company showed off new visuals for their upcoming MCU projects, including Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It was reportedly revealed that the Tom Holland-led sequel will feature the classic Marvel villains Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tombstone. Better Call Saul star Michael Mando made his first appearance as Scorpion in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but has since remained absent, until now. Check out the social media post below:

Nicolas Cage’s ‘Spider-Noir’ has dropped a surprising first official look at the aging superhero.
At first glance, it seems Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature more ground-level villains this time around, a far cry from recent installments. However, the aforementioned villain group is not very exciting (no offense, Boomerang), and it is a bit difficult to see them as the film’s main villains. Perhaps they only show up as cannon fodder at the beginning of the film, not unlike how Andrew Garfield’s web-slinger battled Rhino at the start of Amazing Spider-Man 2. Scorpion’s reintroduction has been a longtime coming in the MCU, and while his inclusion in Brand New Day is exciting, we have a feeling that the MCU sequel has something bigger up its sleeve.
Several More Villains Are Rumored for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures
As Spider-Man: Brand New Day inches closer to production, rumors have made their way online regarding the film’s antagonist(s). In addition to Scorpion, Tombstone, and Boomerang, the MCU sequel is reportedly looking to cast a 30-to-50-year-old actress as the main villain. It’s unclear who the character might be, but some have speculated that Silver Sable could be in the mix to feature in the film. Moreover, Succession star Sarah Snook might be eyed to play the unnamed villain. Meanwhile, The Bear star Liza Colón-Zayas officially joined the cast in recent weeks, and her role is being kept hidden.
Many speculate that Brand New Day will introduce a fan-favorite from the PlayStation video game franchise. Martin Li, aka Mister Negative, is a popular choice to be the main villain in the new film. Of course, this remains speculation until any confirmation by Sony and Marvel Studios, but it’s been a recurring belief that the character will make his live-action debut soon. In Spider-Man PS4, Martin Li acts as a mentor figure for Peter Parker, but it is revealed that he is a crime lord with superhuman abilities. Interestingly enough, both Scorpion and Tombstone played prominent roles in the hit video game, especially the latter.
