Season 3 Of Hit NYC Period Drama Returns June 22 On HBO Max
Jun 3, 2025
“The Gilded Age,” the American counterpart to “Downton Abbey,” is making a grand return on June 22. HBO has sent us a new trailer to share that highlights the upcoming third season of the drama that explores the world of American old and new money on the cusp of the turn of the century in New York.
Julian Fellowes, of “Downton Abbey” fame, is behind the series as creator, which explores the Gilded Age that was thirty years between 1870 to 1900. Considered one of the most extravagant and decadent periods of American history, as wealth reached royalty levels through the Industrial Revolution and other growing industries that saw profits explode.

An official synopsis for the third season, courtesy of HBO:
The American Gilded Age was a period of immense economic and social change, when empires were built, but no victory came without sacrifice. Following the Opera War, the old guard is weakened, and the Russells stand poised to take their place at the head of society. Bertha sets her sights on a prize that would elevate the family to unimaginable heights while George risks everything on a gambit that could revolutionize the railroad industry — if it doesn’t ruin him first. Across the street, the Brook household is thrown into chaos as Agnes refuses to accept Ada’s new position as lady of the house. Peggy meets a handsome doctor from Newport whose family is less than enthusiastic about her career. As all of New York hastens toward the future, their ambition may come at the cost of what they truly hold dear.
Fellowes, Gareth Neame, David Crockett, director Michael Engler, Bob Greenblatt, writer Sonja Warfield, and director Salli Richardson-Whitfield make up the show’s executive producing team. Also, “The Gilded Age” is a co-production between HBO and Universal Television.
