Ben Affleck’s Action Franchise ‘The Accountant’ Is Dominating Prime Video
Jun 10, 2025
Nobody suspects the accountant. Well, they probably should have, as Ben Affleck’s unorthodox action hero is now dominating streaming. Following the release of the long-awaited sequel, The Accountant 2, both the latest installment in the action thriller franchise and its 2016 predecessor have now taken the top two spots on a popular streaming platform in both the U.S. and globally. Released nearly a decade ago, the first The Accountant introduced audiences to Affleck as the unassuming Christian Wolff, an autistic accountant who assists criminal organizations in “un-cooking” their books. Of course, he’s no ordinary pencil pusher, and boasts a particular set of skills that will come in handy when he’s targeted by his latest client. Directed by Gavin O’Connor and co-starring Anna Kendrick, J. K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson, The Accountant received mixed from critics but was adored by audiences, who were forced to wait years for a follow-up, which finally landed earlier this year.

Talks Are Happening Regarding ‘The Accountant 3’
Warner Bros. Pictures
While fans had to wait patiently for nearly a decade between the first and second Accountant outings, we thankfully won’t have to wait anywhere near as long for a third. Discussing his plans for the future of the franchise recently, Gavin O’Connor revealed that discussions had already begun regarding a possible The Accountant 3, with the filmmaker saying, “I have a lot of thoughts about what to do with the third. I’ve been thinking about it for a lot of years.” And it could bring back a key character notably absent from this year’s sequel…
“We have had some preliminary conversations. I am personally running from another puzzle movie, which we’ve done twice now. One thing we’ve talked about is the idea of bringing Anna Kendrick back. Maybe Christian can finally get the love that he deserves. Actually… She and I have been texting. She said she’s a hundred percent in if we want.”
