Apple’s Epic Sci-Fi Fantasy Series Returns July 11

Jun 11, 2025

Apple TV+ is bringing back one of the streaming service’s biggest shows next month with the third season of “Foundation,” based on the iconic Isaac Asimov books and created for the small screen by writer David S. Goyer (“Krypton,” “Blade” franchise). The show has landed a new trailer that we can now share as the new run of episodes, continuing the epic series, which will be hitting Apple TV+ on July 11.
New additions to the cast of “Foundation” in this upcoming third season include Cherry Jones, Brandon P. Bell, Synnøve Karlsen, Cody Fern, Tómas Lemarquis, Alexander Siddig, Oscar-winner Troy Kotsur, and Pilou Asbæk. They’ll be joining returning actors such as Jared Harris, Lee Pace, star Lou Llobell, Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann, and Rowena King.

An official synopsis courtesy of Apple:
Set 152 years after the events of season two, The Foundation has become increasingly established far beyond its humble beginnings, while the Cleonic Dynasty’s Empire has dwindled. As both of these galactic powers forge an uneasy alliance, a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the fearsome form of a warlord known as “The Mule,” whose sights are set on ruling the universe by use of physical and military force, as well as mind control. It’s anyone’s guess who will win, who will lose, who will live, and who will die as Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons, and Demerzel play a potentially deadly game of intergalactic chess.
“Foundation” hails from Skydance Television with an impressive producing team that consists of Goyer, Bill Bost, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Matt Thunell, Robyn Asimov, David Kob, Christopher J. Byrne, Leigh Dana Jackson, Jane Espenson, and Roxann Dawson.
