First ‘Ironheart’ Reactions Tease Another Divisive MCU Outing
Jul 3, 2025
The next entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will soon land on Disney+, as Ironheart begins streaming on Disney+ today (June 24). Ahead of the first three episodes dropping at once, the first reactions to the MCU’s new take on Iron Man have been revealed. Dominique Thorne reprises her role as Riri Williams from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, putting her homemade Iron Man suit in the spotlight, with a touch of magic. But is Ironheart the next big hit for Marvel on Disney+, or have the online haters been proven right? The first reactions to Ironheart have been released, and critics appear to be divided by the MCU’s newest series. There were many positive reactions to the new Disney+ series. “Ironheart is a welcome addition to the MCU,” wrote @demetherself. “The series has its own unique style, and the way it introduces the more magical side of Marvel is intriguing. It leaves you wanting more. It sure is the best Marvel series since Agatha All Along.” @rob_keyes was even more enamored with Ironheart, claiming it is even better than some of the MCU’s recent theatrical releases (which isn’t a very high bar at the moment). They wrote:
“I watched all six episodes of #Ironheart and it deserves your attention. It’s better than most recent Marvel Studios theatrical releases and is one of the rare good MCU TV shows. Dominique Thorne is a star, peak production values, no idea what it’s leading to but I’d like more.”

“He told me how excited he was and that he’s rooting for it, too. I literally got two thumbs up.”
The good reactions continued, as even self-proclaimed “Marvel cynic,” @maggieofthetown, enjoyed the series. They wrote, “The first three episodes of #Ironheart are out tomorrow, and your resident Marvel cynic is here to say: it’s quite good! It’s a shame the series has been in flux, because Disney+ has something great on their hands.”
Other ‘Ironheart’ Reactions Call the Series “Dull”
Disney+
Unfortunately, not everyone was as impressed with Ironheart as the above critics. @HollywoodHandle called the series a “disappointment,” writing, “Ironheart has some fun moments, but it’s never interesting enough nor it manages to stick the landing. Bland characters and a super uninteresting plot that doesn’t know where it wants to go. A disappointment overall.” MovieWeb’s own, Julian Roman, was another critic who wanted more from the MCU’s next installment. “Ironheart fulfills low expectations with a weak narrative, poorly-written characters, and dull action,” read their reaction. “It will also arouse the ire of trolls who target Disney’s diversity efforts.” The trolls are indeed ired by Ironheart, as the online reactions during the series’ promotional campaign have proven. The first teaser trailer for the series was released in May, and it was bombarded with negative reactions. The teaser amassed over 300,000 dislikes in the first week of being live on YouTube. That, combined with the other bigoted hatred targeted towards the female-led series, has, once again, caused a divide among the Marvel fan base. For those who want to watch the series and form their own opinions, the first three episodes of Ironheart release today (June 24). The final three episodes will drop a week later on July 1.
