Hayden Christensen Hopes Anakin Skywalker Returns After ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2

Aug 13, 2025

Star Wars legend Hayden Christensen has expressed his desire to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in the galaxy far, far away again, but whether it happens depends on “the powers that be.” The actor, who has already confirmed his return in Ahsoka Season 2, is seemingly ready to step into a bigger role within the Star Wars universe again. Speaking on a panel at the Fan Expo Boston, he revealed he would be open to bringing his fan-favorite character back beyond Snips and Skyguy’s small-screen adventures. In fact, he wouldn’t think twice about it.
“One hundred percent… I would love to, yes. If the powers that be decide that’s something that they want to see, I would be there in a heartbeat.”
Christensen starred as Anakin Skywalker (aka the future Darth Vader) in 2002’s Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and 2005’s Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. He then shifted his attention to other projects, but none held the same significance as his role in the long-running space opera, and little by little, he moved away from the spotlight. He took a four-year acting hiatus from 2010 to 2014 and returned to the Star Wars universe sometime after that. He most recently appeared in the Disney+ shows Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka, but, according to Screen Rant, he would gladly reprise his role as Anakin again, if the right opportunity came along. The Star Wars alum only briefly appeared in Ahsoka Season 1, but it looks like the actor could have a lot more screentime in the show’s sophomore run. There is also a strong possibility that the second season could feature flashbacks similar to Christensen’s involvement with the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, which was primarily centered around Ewan McGregor’s titular character. McGregor, much like Christensen, has expressed interest in returning to his role as Obi-Wan for future projects, despite his limited series (starting and) ending in 2022.
Is Ewan McGregor in ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2?

Contrary to popular belief, McGregor has not been confirmed for Ahsoka Season 2. The Obi-Wan actor inadvertently fueled speculation about his involvement in The Mandalorian spin-off while speaking about the series at the Fan Expo Boston. He was asked to name his favorite Star Wars project that he is not a part of (emphasis on “not a part of”) and came back with Ahsoka as his answer, especially since his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, portrays the live-action version of Hera Syndulla on the show. According to Collider, he elaborated by saying:
“I like watching my wife, you know, so I really enjoyed Ahsoka. I thought that was brilliantly done. It’s so funny, like, you know, she’s shooting the second season now, and I know. Is that a secret? …Well, she is anyway. And so I just finished doing a play. So I’m at home with our son, who’s four, and I take him to school and everything. And then I’m, you know, bumbling around the house, and I’d fetch a FaceTime. I forget that she’s going to be green, you know. She pops up, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, oh yes.’ You know, often she’s in her trailer without all the head stuff on, but she’s just green, you know. She’s a very beautiful green lady, so. I love that.”
The quote originally got picked up and misconstrued by people, with many incorrectly believing that McGregor was alluding to Kenobi showing up in the series. What we do know is that Rosario Dawson is reprising her titular role alongside Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, and Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. Lucasfilm recently revealed a first look at one of the characters sporting a bold – but more familiar – new look for Ahsoka Season 2, which is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2026.
