Trailer For Toni Collette’s Twisted Netflix Series WAYWARD

Sep 4, 2025

There’s something unsettling stirring in the quaint town of Tall Pines, and Mae Martin is right at the heart of it. In the newly released full trailer for the Netflix limited series Wayward, Toni Collette flexes her range in chilling form as Evelyn Wade, the enigmatic head of Tall Pines Academy, a place that claims to “solve the problem of adolescence.”Beneath those formidable glasses, Evelyn leans in and tells a student under restraint, “I can’t wait for you to meet the new you.” What’s lurking behind the school’s polished façade is anything but reassuring.More ominous still is the cryptic whisper from an unidentified character: “Children go in, something else comes out.” Suddenly the notion of a “troubled teen” school takes on an entirely different, darker meaning.Meanwhile, the creator of the series Mae Martin, who also stars in it as Alex Dempsey, a cop who moves with his pregnant wife, Sarah Gadon, back to Tall Pines. Gadon plays Alex’s wife, who is also a former student at Evelyn’s school, adding emotional undercurrents to the mystery. As Alex digs deeper, he crosses paths with two desperate students, Abbie (Sydney Topliffe) and Leila (Alyvia Alyn Lind). These girls want out, and their escape might unravel the secrets shadowing the Academy, secrets that Alex suspects link the school to the disappearance of several young people.Netflix teases the show as “a thrilling and genre‑bending limited series about the eternal struggle between one generation and the next, what happens when friendship and loyalty are put to the ultimate test, and how buried truths always find a way of coming to the surface.” The eight-episode run lands on September 25.
