‘The White Lotus’ Rumor Reveals Season 4’s Mysterious New Location May Not Be as Exotic as Expected

Sep 7, 2025

The White Lotus Season 4 looks to have settled on a location for the next installment of HBO’s wild anthology series that comes with an all-star cast, outrageous storylines, and plenty of exotic scenery for audiences to be swept up in. The mystery drama series has so far featured Hawaii, Italy, and Thailand as the beautiful settings for intricately woven tales of lust, deception, and murder. Now, a rumor from Deadline has suggested that Season 4 will be back in Europe, specifically, France. While there has been no official confirmation of this from HBO, the site suggests that a movie to France could see the usual use of the Four Seasons hotel chain being replaced by the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera. Having said that, the same sources admitted that no location, or specific hotel, had been locked in. The location of the series may be one important factor in the success of the series, but the real deal comes in the big-name cast. For now, these rumor sources have nothing to say on that front, which is a shame as that is something that fans really want to know. With filming on the new season set to begin very soon, then it hopefully won’t be too long until an official update comes along from HBO.
Previous Rumors Suggested a Very Different Location for ‘The White Lotus’ Season 4.

Just a few weeks ago, The White Lotus executive producer David Bernad spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about rumors of where the next misadventures of a new group of travelers would be set. He said at the time:
“I think we’re narrowing down where we’ll end up, and we’re still kind of having those conversations, but I think it’s starting to come into focus. I think I saw [Four Seasons Japan mentioned in reports]. I’m actually curious to see how accurate they are. Nothing yet [I can share about the season’s theme], but I am very excited for what Mike is working on and thinking about for Season 4. I think it’s going to speak to culture in a way that […] is going to be relevant. I don’t want to say too much [other than] I know what it is and where it’s going, and it’s really exciting and I think people will be happy about the direction of Season 4.”
The White Lotus has been a big hit for HBO, but its season on season reviews have shown diminishing returns – but not the dramatic decline suffered by several other shows. Season 3 landed a respectable 86% Tomatometer score – below the 90% series average – and a consistent 76% audience rating. Wherever it ends up setting its story, hopefully The White Lotus can continue to impress when Season 4 debuts next year.
