‘Walking Dead’ Auction Puts Pricey Tag on Unexpected Item
Oct 9, 2025
Fans of The Walking Dead have the chance to take home a surprising piece of memorabilia from the show — and it comes with a hefty price tag. AMC Networks partnered with Heritage Auctions to sell a wide array of classic props, from Daryl Dixon’s (Norman Reedus) original crossbow to Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire fondly named Lucille. However, fans looking for something a bit more unique can snag a pair of Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) undies that he wore in the Season 1 premiere “Days Gone Bye.” The listing includes three blue hospital gowns and a matching pair of boxers with a bias label that reads “Rick” on them. The bidding starts at $800. More mainstream Rick items up for auction are his sheriff hat (which has a starting bid of $5,000) and his signature .357 Colt Python revolver (which has a minimum bid of $10,000). Michonne’s (Danai Gurira) full costume from her first appearance in Season 3 — including her brown hooded poncho, purple knit top, cropped leather vest and her katana — and Carol Peletier’s (Melissa McBride) trench knives are other memorable props up for bid. Once one of the most-watched shows on cable television, The Walking Dead has blown up from a comic book series to a major franchise that includes an 11-season television show, spinoffs, video games and more. Executive Vice President of Production for AMC Networks and AMC Studios Rob Fox said the auction was a “celebration” of the franchise’s “legacy and devoted global fanbase” in the press release for the auction. Additionally, Joe Maddalena, who serves as the Executive Vice President at Heritage Auctions, called the partnership “thrilling.”
“These aren’t just props and costumes. They’re touchstones of a show that redefined modern television — and now, they’re up for grabs.”
Fans Can Win a ‘Walking Dead’ Zombie Makeover
The Walking Dead Zombies AMC
Those who always wanted a chance to join The Walking Dead universe as a zombie extra have the opportunity to win the next best thing! Fans can bid on a chance to be transformed into a walker at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 by executive producer and special effects artist Greg Nicotero and his team. According to the listing, the lucky winner’s walker makeover features “screen-quality prosthetics, custom airbrushing, and cinematic finishing techniques.” Once their look is complete, they’ll get to take part in a professional photo shoot to capture the special moment and remember it for years to come. Nicotero, who is an avid collector himself, said he was “delighted” that fans would have the opportunity to keep a small piece of TWD history for themselves through the auction.
“Our show really did change the way people watched genre television and brought zombies into their living rooms every Sunday night….you can’t beat that! We always tried to keep the zombies scary and interesting with a sense of dread and foreboding. We worked out a formula that preserved horror and realism, but still let the actors give a performance.”
Bidding opened on Oct. 6 and the auction will take place from Oct. 30 through Nov. 1.
