Supernatural Fans Accuse Jonas Brothers of Plagiarism, Misha Collins Responds

Mar 9, 2023

Supernatural fans claim that The Jonas Brothers plagiarized their latest collection cover, but Misha Collins has a different opinion.

Collins, who starred in the CW series Supernatural, addressed the controversy around Jonas Brothers’ new album cover. The Family Business is The Jonas Brothers’ latest album, which came out in February 2023. The album’s cover resembles an image of the Winchester brothers and their sidekick Castiel. Many Supernatural fans accused the Jonas brothers of plagiarism because of this, but Collins defended them by saying:

“People are shouting, “Plagiarism!”, but I see this as RECYCLING, which helps the environment, so I say, “Thanks for doing your part for the planet, @jonasbrothers.””

Check Collin’s tweet below.

Some replies to the tweet included Prime Video UK’s official Twitter account standing with Collins and The Jonas brothers, saying, “loving and admiring Supernatural as they should!!”

The Jonas Brothers and Supernatural

The CW

In 2005, the Jonas brothers formed their band, and coincidentally, Supernatural came out in the same year. The American pop-rock band gained popularity in the early 2000s and 2010s mainly through Disney Channel, where the three brothers, Kevin, Nick, and Joe, performed on the TV channel and had different roles in TV shows and movies. The brothers had prominent roles in Camp Rock, a 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie, and in Camp Rock 2, its 2010 sequel. In addition, Jonas was the band’s Disney Channel sitcom, which lasted for two seasons. The band also has five studio albums released, It’s About Time (2006), Jonas Brothers (2007), A Little Bit Longer (2008), Lines, Vines and Trying Times (2009), and Happiness Begins (2019), aside from their latest album, The Family Business, which caused the controversy and their upcoming album, The Album, which will release in May 2023.

Supernatural is an American dark fantasy drama TV series released on The WB television network and later joined The CW television company. The show stars Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester and Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester. The Winchester brothers chase ghosts, monsters, demons, and other supernatural entities. Collins, who defended The Jonas Brothers against fan accusations, stars alongside them as Castiel. Although the series’ stories were frequently intense, dramatic, and somewhat dark, the two protagonists’ connection always made the show feel realistic and genuine to fans.

Supernatural became the longest-running American live-action fantasy TV series with 15 seasons. The show is streaming on Netflix and has a strong fanbase, which accounts for the vigorous defense of the series against The Jonas Brothers’ album cover.
