New Look at the Latest MCU Hero Unveils Marvel’s “Best Show” Yet
Nov 7, 2025
A new trailer has been unveiled for Wonder Man, a series that has generated a lot of early buzz as one of the best MCU series ever. Wonder Man follows Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) as a struggling actor who is trying to land the lead role in a big-budget reboot of a classic superhero movie, Wonder Man. The series appears to be a meta-comedy about the superhero films and television shows Marvel Studios is best known for. Marvel Studios has posted a one-minute teaser for Wonder Man that not only plays up the story of an actor’s quest to land a big part, but also suggests that Simon Williams might already have superpowers. Many suspected that Williams would gain his powers later in the series, possibly due to director Von Kovak (Zlatko Burić) asking the actors auditioning for Wonder Man to undergo a procedure to gain powers. However, the latest footage for Wonder Man hints that when Williams says “I was born to play this character,” he might literally mean it by having superpowers when he goes to audition. ‘Wonder Man’ Kicks Off Marvel’s Ambitious 2026 Slate
Wonder Man was created by Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton, alongside Andrew Guest, who was a producer on Hawkeye. On the cast side, Ben Kingsley reprises his role as Trevor Slattery from Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as Simon Williams’ friend and fellow actor auditioning for Wonder Man. Demetrius Grosse (Banshee) plays Simon Williams’ brother Eric, better known as the villain Grim Reaper, while Ed Harris is Neal Saroyan, Simon Williams’ agent. Similar to the release pattern of Echo and Marvel Zombies, Disney+ will air all episodes of Wonder Man on January 27, 2026. The series was originally intended to close out the MCU’s 2025 slate of projects, but was pushed back from its initial planned December release date. Wonder Man will now be the first title in Marvel’s ambitious 2026 slate, which includes Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, X-Men ’97 Season 2, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2, VisionQuest, and finally, Avengers: Doomsday. Like She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Wonder Man looks to be a comedic approach to a superhero project that likely will have plenty of jokes at the MCU’s expense. The series has already taken a meta-approach to its marketing, including the character Simon Williams appearing at the premiere of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, who talked character about the fictional Wonder Man property in the MCU. With Marvel Television exploring a long-form format for its shows, this might just be the beginning for Wonder Man.
