DC Studios’ Major Batman Movie Gets First Casting Update In 9 Months

Nov 10, 2025

DC Studios has multiple exciting Batman projects in the works, focusing on various aspects of the Dark Knight’s greater mythology. With the Caped Crusader being one of the most beloved superheroes of all time in Hollywood, the next couple of years will have some of the biggest adaptations of the DC icon. Swaybox Studios, which is one of the studios behind the upcoming Dynamic Duo movie, revealed through their official Instagram page that they are set to start the casting process as of November 15, 2025. They also included a video, posing the question, “Have you ever dreamed of performing in a DC Studios movie?” Check it out below:

Dynamic Duo was first announced to be in development on October 1, 2024, with Arthur Mintz set to direct. The film is being produced by Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho production banner, and on September 9, 2025, it was revealed that Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber had been tapped to rewrite the screenplay. The story is set to focus on the early days of the first Robins, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, and serves as the biggest animated project at DC Studios, as they are teaming up with Warner Bros Pictures Animation.

There have been a lot of questions surrounding whether or not Dynamic Duo will be canon to James Gunn’s DC Universe franchise, or if it will exist as an Elseworlds property similar to Reeves’ The Batman universe. Gunn was asked about whether the project is part of the DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters slate at a DC press event back in February 2025, which ScreenRant was in attendance for. Gunn shared, “The reason I haven’t answered this is because there might be a way it might fit into the DCU. I would love for this animated puppet movie to be a part of the DCU. That’s really appealing to me, but the story is unique, and so it may not work within our universe.” It’s unknown what other characters will be part of the Dynamic Duo movie. Outside of Dynamic Duo, DC Studios just finished filming the Clayface movie on November 1, 2025, which will focus on Tom Rhys Harries’ Matt Hagen, a.k.a. the famous shapeshifter, which is part of the DCU. The Brave and The Bold, which will be Bruce Wayne’s solo film in Gunn’s franchise, is still being written. The Batman – Part II is scheduled to arrive on October 1, 2027, with Reeves and Robert Pattinson beginning principal photography in 2026. Dynamic Duo is slated to hit theaters on June 30, 2028.
