Born Again’ Fan Theory That Foggy Nelson Is Alive
Nov 29, 2025
Marvel fans love nothing more than a good bit of speculation and theorizing about what will happen in upcoming movies and shows. One big question has been how Elden Henson will be returning in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 after Foggy Nelson died in the opening of Season 1. Now it looks like the biggest fan theory on the subject has been put to bed by someone who should really know about these things: Charlie Cox. Fans were thrilled when it was originally revealed that Henson and Deborah Ann Woll would be joining Cox in the MCU, especially given that the original plan excluded them completely. However, the joy of having Foggy back was short-lived when he was killed off by Benjamin Poindexter’s Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) in the opening sequence of the series in a shocking twist that fans still haven’t quite recovered from. They have also not let go of the theory that Foggy actually survived “dying” and that is how he will return in the next season. It looks like this idea has now just bitten the dust, as Cox has shut down the idea that Foggy is still alive. During a Q&A panel at La Conve 64 in Mexico, Cox was directly asked about the popular theory, and replied:
‘Daredevil heard his heart stop. He’s dead. I’m sorry. I’m very sad. I very sad. I am. I love that theory, but it’s wrong.”
What Does This Mean for Foggy’s ‘Born Again’ Season 2 Role?
https://x.com/broccolimurdock/status/1992724607477141556 Despite Cox’s denials about Foggy’s survival, there are obviously many who don’t believe a word he says. In fact, the short response has made some people even more confident that Foggy is alive. After all, this is a Marvel project, and no one ever tells the truth about Marvel projects, right? But, for the sake of argument, if Cox is telling the truth, and Foggy Nelson is indeed dead, then how does Foggy fit into the Season 2 story? The most likely way for Nelson to return would be either in flashbacks or some kind of hallucination of either Matt or Karen. In the end, while it has been confirmed that Henson has filmed for Season 2, no one has said exactly how long he filmed, or how big his role will be. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 was set to premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2026. Recently, Disney removed the date from their press site, instead just listing the show as “Coming in 2026.” This means that fans could have to wait even longer than expected to find out the truth about Foggy, and discover where Daredevil’s next chapter takes him. In the meantime, Born Again Season 1 is streaming on the platform, along with the entire Defenders Saga as seen previously on Netflix, so you could easily rewatch the whole story again before the return of the series, Jessica Jones, and potentially other former stars of the franchise.
