‘Outlander’ Season 8 Final Trailer Teases the Emotional End of the Romantic Saga
Feb 1, 2026
The passionately steamy, thrilling adventure series that has become a global phenomenon returns for its final farewell. The eighth and final season of Outlander has released an expectedly epic final trailer for its last hurrah, courtesy of STARZ, with the season set to end the time-traveling romance that first began more than a decade ago. Hinting at further heartbreak for star-crossed couple Claire ( Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie ( Sam Heughan), and brimming with the kind of period romance that fans adore, Outlander Season 8 will reveal the fallout of Jamie’s fateful decision at the end of Season 7, with the Highland warrior resigning his Continental Army commission and return to Fraser’s Ridge with Claire. Meanwhile, after an emotional family reunion, the MacKenzies needed to decide where and when to settle next, and a haunting cliffhanger left fans questioning the true fate of Claire and Jamie’s first daughter, Faith. The final season of Outlander is due to premiere on Starz on March 6, 2026, with new episodes streaming every Friday. In the meantime, you can check out the newly released trailer and official synopsis for Season 8 below…
As Season 8 begins, Jamie and Claire soon find the war has followed them home to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence. With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together. While the Frasers keep a united front against outside intruders, family secrets finally coming to light threaten to tear them apart from the inside. Although they’ve left the war for America’s freedom behind, their fight for Fraser’s Ridge has only just begun.
While ‘Outlander’ Will Bid Farewell, This Is Not the End of the Romantic Saga…
Outlander stars Caitríona Balfe as Claire Fraser, Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Sophie Skelton as Brianna MacKenzie, Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie, John Bell as Young Ian Murray, David Berry as Lord John Grey, Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Murray, Lauren Lyle as Marsali Fraser and César Domboy as Fergus Fraser.
Based on the book series by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander has been met with critical acclaim throughout its run, as well as acquiring a dedicated fanbase eager to see how the time-leaping romance will come to an end. While fans will no doubt be sad to see Outlander come to it’s long-awaited conclusion, this is not a final farewell to the franchise or the historical romance delights. Last year’s prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, follows the parents of Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp, with the spin-off being met with similar acclaim to its predecessor and thus working as the perfect continuation of the romantic saga. The series has now been renewed for a season season.
