Born Again’ Season 2 Ends Mayor Fisk Story
Feb 24, 2026
Daredevil: Born Again is a series that lived up to its name when bringing Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio back to the franchise last year. Now, showrunner Dario Scardapane, who managed to salvage what could have been a disastrous Season 1, has revealed that there will be a big change coming after the upcoming second season. Daredevil: Born Again was originally conceived as a brand new start for the saga and the original script cut out characters from the Netflix series, ignored previous storylines, and looked set to be a massive disappointment to those who really just wanted to see the old Netflix series return. While Scardapane managed to rework the Mayor Fisk storyline into something closer to the old series, he has now confirmed that this storyline, and its real-world parallels with the current state of America, will be over after Season 2. Expressing how he is eager to move on from comparisons between Fisk and Trump, and now Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force and ICE, Scardapane told SFX magazine:
“The playbook is pretty well established, so when we were writing this stuff we were like, ‘Here’s what he does.’ The anti-vigilante task force is part of the comics. We built them and costumed them based on the comics. There are a few sequences that were shot a year ago that could be off the news, and it’s weirding all of us out. Getting into the realm of politics, New York politics, the Game of Thrones intrigue behind the scenes. Okay, that’s fun too, but as it becomes almost too topical, it feels like it’s going away from the large, mythological genre stuff.”
“So as we finish up the Mayor Fisk run with season 2,” the showrunner continued, “as that storyline comes to its inevitable conclusion, what we’re doing going forward feels more like a return to the [Frank] Miller-era comics. So yeah, it was fun to play in the realm of politics, but I like something a little more street level, personally.”
‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 Has Much To Prove
Daredevil’s return to screens as part of the MCU was as successful as it could have been considering its troubled production. While the first season of Born Again did not reach the heights of its predecessor, it did enough to ensure that Daredevil was back where he belonged with most of the key players in place. Season 2 is already pleasing long-term fans by bringing back Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, with Mike Colter’s Luke Cage also rumored to appear, but the show has to put the cobbled together feel of Season 1 behind it and rediscover the cohesive storytelling that made the Netflix series so popular.
Scardapane certainly seems to have earned his stripes in making Season 1 work. Bringing the Mayor Fisk storyline to a satisfactory conclusion in Season 2 should ensure the future of Daredevil for several years to come. Daredevil: Born Again is Marvel Studios’ first Disney+ series to be set as a recurring annual release and there are many more Daredevil stories out there to tell. It is clear that Scardapane wants to be the one to tell them in the coming years.
