Matt Damon’s 126-Minute Career-Defining Drama Has Quietly Made a Streaming Move

Mar 9, 2026

March has already seen a couple of Matt Damon’s movies land on new streaming homes, from his most adored works to those least favored by critics and audiences. Most notable of the arrivals is Damon’s near-perfect drama, often regarded as his greatest work despite being decades old. The film marked the 55-year-old’s breakthrough role, which established his career, showcasing both his acting talent and writing abilities while also transforming him from a working actor into a major Hollywood star, screenwriter, and Oscar winner.

Written by Damon and his longtime buddy Ben Affleck, with whom he has collaborated on multiple projects, Good Will Hunting is that career-defining drama that made almost everyone an instant fan. The film was theatrically released on January 9, 1998, after originally premiering the previous year. And now, Paramount+ quietly added it to the platform’s March lineup, making it available from March 1, 2026. Also starring in Good Will Hunting are Robin Williams, Ben and Casey Affleck, Stellan Skarsgård, Minnie Driver, and Cole Hauser, among others.

Matt Damon’s Best Movie of All Time Defined an Era

Good Will Hunting tells the story of Damon’s character, Will Hunting, a 20-year-old janitor at MIT with a genius-level IQ who gets discovered by Professor Gerald Lambeau (Skarsgård) when he solves a complex, graduate-level math problem. As a misguided youth, Will has quite the rap sheet and gets arrested for attacking a police officer, but thanks to Professor Lambeau, he doesn’t get to serve time as the professor makes a deal to get leniency for Will if he gets treatment from therapist Sean Maguire (Williams). For their brilliant work on Good Will Hunting, Damon and Ben were awarded Best Original Screenplay at the 70th Academy Awards, while Williams won for Best Supporting Actor.
